Each Christmas at Mayfield and Solent Mind we aim to find out what’s happening locally so that nobody spends Christmas alone. Below is a list of support that is available over the Christmas period, and list of helplines.

Abbeyfield runs a coping at Christmas initiative which sees houses and homes opening their doors to those who would otherwise be spending the day alone. A range of activities are on offer and there are participating Abbeyfields in Southampton and Winchester

A free confidential NHS service for people registered with a GP in Southampton and Dorset. Support is provided either over the phone, face to face or via the internet.

Sane helpline - 0300 304 7000 (Out-of-hours mental health helpline)
SANE runs a national, out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers. They are open every day of the year from 6pm to 11pm.

Provides information on a range of topics including types of mental health problem, where to get help, medication and alternative treatments, advocacy.

Rethink Helpline - 0300 5000 927 
Rethink Mental Illness has a number of helplines which offer emotional support and also a national advice service, all of which offering support to those experiencing severe mental illness, their carers and relatives.
